In the workplace, contact dermatitis is reportedly the biggest occupational skin disease.
Contact dermatitis, an inflamation that occurs when an irritating substance comes into contact with the skin, usually affects the hands, although other parts of the body may be affected as well. The prevention of contact dermatitis must be uppermost in employees’ minds with the correct use of PPE necessary to guard against chemical splashes, etc.
But let’s not forget skin is also vulnerable to many sharp edged hazards and common sense could be a partial answer to prevent cuts, burns, bruised and blistered skin.
