Electrical Safety

Electrical hazards such as shock, electrocution and arc flash will always be a problem. Proper training and safety strategies can minimize the likelihood of electrical injuries and fatalities.

These Outlines are designed to help protect employees from electrical accidents while working on, with, or near electrical equipment.

Many different jobs must be performed in the workplace but as electricity cannot be seen “Always assume it’s live”, is the watchword. Testing is the best way to recognize the presence of voltage but this fact is often lost during routine assignments.

With electricity, make sure your employees have “positive”, not “negative” attitudes!

Tests using mannequins show the hazards of an arcing fault.

The anatomy of an arc fault is fully explained in this Safety Outline.

This topic will help workers understand the latest National Electrical Code arc protection standards and the safety procedures they MUST adopt when working on, with or near electrical circuitry.

“Quick as a flash”, they could be gone. Don’t let it happen.

What you can’t see can harm you…

This is an excellent checklist of electricity safety practices.

Details such as water and dampness hazards, using suitably insulated PPE, safety practices for both portable and fixed equipment, and lockout/tagout procedures are covered. As is a whole list of “do’s and don’ts” when working on, with or near exposed energized parts.

Really worth your attention!

Use Electricity safely.

This topic focuses on the reality that electricity needs to be treated with respect and offers a large number of Safety-Related Work Practices.

While lockout/tagout information is provided for heavy industrial equipment, a great deal of information centers on the safe use of portable electrical tools.

Check your equipment. Don’t be a live wire!

The old adage, “Never Assume”, really applies here.

With electricity, ALWAYS ASSUME IT’S LIVE.

This handy Outline can be used as a basic training primer to introduce workers to eight working rules that can save lives when working on, with or near electrical equipment.

With electricity, if in doubt always check it out!
