Retail

Safety training requirements for retailers are very different from those in manufacturing or construction. Retail sector studies indicate that employee turnover rate is staggering, which may indicate training in the industry is often very curtailed. Another major distinction is the loss, by retailers, of millions of dollars through either internal or external theft. Neither of these factors, however, should stop employers from introducing training programs into their workplace environment. Safety programs can only help but, when introduced, should emphasis the immediate benefits for employees. Plenty of Outlines are available in SafetyWorld's Library such as training strategies on the safe use of walkways, stairs, stairways, and portable ladders. In retailing the safe handling of goods is paramount and safety outlines are available that focus on material handling, hand safety, lifting and carrying, and the use of sharp tools in food preparation. Retailer's stores are both big and small but the safety codes are similar for accident prevention, accident reporting, fire prevention, first aid, and security. Regardless of employee turnover, have them learn the ground rules.
